Enjoy a private visit to the EBT, the nation’s oldest and best-preserved narrow-gauge railroad, on Tuesday, September 10, 2024!
The EBT is unusual in that it is a complete, original railroad rather than a collection of pieces from various locations. All six of the 3 ft narrow-gauge steam locomotives that operated on the railroad in its last years as a coal hauler are still on site, some of which are used for excursion trains. Other original equipment includes a standard gauge steam switcher (non-operational), operating track-gang cars, the M-3 motorcar, and the M-1 motorcar (doodlebug) based on scaled-down J. G. Brill and Company plans built by the EBT in 1927. The majority of rolling stock that operated on the railroad in its later coal-hauling years remains on the property in varying condition, including over a dozen flatcars, several boxcars and well over 150 hoppers.
Our tour is set to include three steam train rides, several photo run-bys, and possible mixed or freight train*.
Names will be drawn for 6 lucky participants for a cab ride on EBT locomotive 16*.
Bus transportation between the convention hotel and the EBT property and a box lunch are included!
Tickets must be purchased in advance through this web site — no walk-ups/on-site sales. You must be registered as a convention attendee to participate in this opportunity — convention attendee registration is not included with the purchase of extra fare activities. Each participant must purchase a ticket.
